The USS Midway, an aircraft carrier, was
commissioned one week after World War II

ation Desert Storm. In 2003, 11 years after
it was decommissioned, it made its way to
San Diego where it has become one of the
area's top tourist attractions. It has even
played host to a college basketball game,
Syracuse versus San Diego State in 2012.
It is the most popular naval warship muse-
um in the United States and it's easy to see
why. Spend two or three hours on the Mid-
way and you'll get an excellent feel for what
made this ship such a powerful weapon and
what life was like on board for the 200,000-
VRPHVDLORUVWKDWVHUYHGRQWKLVƮRDWLQJ

who served on the Midway. The highlight,
though, is the 29 restored aircrafts on deck
that look like they're ready for battle at any
moment.

itself is a 100-acre tropical garden and it
houses some 4,000 animals including nu-
