The Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is a
place where time has stood still. Unchanged
and undeveloped since the beginning of
time it provides a respite from our world of
strip malls, freeways and mini-marts. The
best way to explore the reserve it to hike

the trails start at the top, which gives you a
view of the area, and dip down to the beach-
es below. Torrey Pine trees, by the way, are
unique to the area and are not found any-
