As Arrogate prepares to defend his title for
what looms as one of the stiffest editions of
the Breeders' Cup Classic in that race's history
on a Del Mar surface that may be particularly
challenging for him, there can be no debate
about his quality. At his best, Arrogate defines
greatness.
From the Travers (G1) in upstate New York
to the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) in California
to the inaugural Pegasus World Cup
Invitational (G1) in South Florida to the World
Cup in Dubai (G1), the gray son of Unbridled's
Song staged a tour de force for the ages.
From Aug. 27, 2016, when he broke onto the
national scene by dashing the fastest mile and
a quarter since iconic Saratoga Race Course
opened in 1863, through March 25, when he
seemed hopelessly beaten at the start of
the Dubai World Cup only to recover for an
unforgettable last-to-first triumph, Arrogate
secured a prominent place in history.
