Description: Monosorb™ suture is prepared from the polyester, poly
(p-dioxanone) and is available dyed (D&C Violet No. 2). The empirical
molecular formula of the polymer is (C

X
. Polydioxanone
polymer has been found to be non-antigenic, nonpyrogenic and elicits
only a slight tissue reaction during absorption.
Indication: Monosorb™ sutures are indicated for use in animals only
in soft tissue approximation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular
tissue where growth is expected to occur and also in ophthalmic
surgery. Monosorb™ suture is not indicated in adult cardiovascular
tissue, microsurgery and neural tissue. These sutures are particularly
useful where the combination of an absorbable suture and extended
wound support (up to 42 days) is desirable.
Features:
• Monofilament facilitates smooth passage through tissue
• Synthetic material for minimal tissue reaction
• Absorbable by hydrolysis
Warning: Sutures should not be used if package is opened or
damaged or if the expiration date has been exceeded. Discard open
unused suture. Do not resterilize; resterilization may alter the physical
properties of this suture, which will result in an adverse patient reaction.
