Description: Chromic Gut sutures are absorbable sterile sutures
composed of purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) derived from
the serosal layer of beef (bovine) intestines. Chromic Gut is packaged in
90% isopropanol, 0.5% sodium benzoate, 0.5% diethylethanolamine,
and water q.s. ad 100%.
Indication: Chromic Gut sutures are indicated for use in animals only
in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in
ophthalmic procedures, but not for use in cardiovascular and neural
tissues.
Features:
• Treated with chromium salts to prolong tensile strength and slow
its absorption
• Natural twisted strands of purified connective tissue with a
moderate tissue reaction
• Absorbable by an enzymatic digestive process. This process
continues – and is effected by a variety of factors - until the suture
is completely absorbed
Warning: Sutures should not be used if package is opened or
damaged or if the expiration date has been exceeded. Discard open
unused suture. Do not resterilize; resterilization may alter the physical
properties of this suture, which will result in an adverse patient reaction.
