pilot-scale unit that handles 1- to 5-liter batches to SM-600
unit that processes 600-liter batches. Mixers use bottom
impeller and side-mounted variable-speed chopper. They
also include easy-to-use PLC. Options include automatic or
manual spray system, jacketed vessel, ATEX-rated explo-
sion-proof motors, automatic CIP system, and agitator/

Twin-screw extruder
ZSK MegaLab twin-screw extruder for hot-melt and wet
extrusion produces batches of 200 grams or less; maximum
throughput is 40 kilograms per hour. Plug-and-play unit has
1.55 ratio of outer screw diameter to inner screw diameter to
ease scale-up. Self-wiping twin screws can be arranged in
variety of configurations, enabling you to control residence
time and particle size distribution. Extruder's thin shafts with
deep cuts allow you to fill up screw channel in order to pre-
vent over-torquing shaft, minimize product temperature,
and prevent API degradation. Unit integrates with compa-
ny's PH line of loss-in-weight feeders and refill systems.

Continuous granulator-dryer
Granuformer continuous granulator-dryer produces granula-
tions with particle size distributions equivalent to or better
than those produced by fluid-bed or high-shear mixers.
Using twin-screw extruder and binder, machine kneads and
blends powders into uniform material. Material then enters
spiral dryer that removes moisture using heated air. Final
granules are porous, free of major agglomerations or over-
sized particles, and ready for compression. Granulator-dryer
supports drug development and commercial production,
eliminating scale-up.
