Bob and Cassidy to the backside.
"I had never had interaction with
the animals before," Bob Edwards
said. "We were touching them, petting
them, loving on them. It's a whole dif-
ferent feeling when you see them like
that, feed them treats. They are af-
fectionate and you see they have per-
sonality. You don't see that when you
watch on television and see them race
for a minute and a half."
That experience changed everything.
The next thing he knew, Edwards was
talking to consignor Niall Brennan and
bloodstock advisor Mike Ryan and a
persistent Cassidy was not about to
let her father leave Saratoga without
a horse.
"I know my mom was telling him no,"
Cassidy said. "I said, 'Dad this is my
chance to finally have a horse. You've
got to go home with a horse.'"
