"There are not many business executives that will be at the
January Keeneland sale," Fielding says. "He's a detailed, de-
tailed, tireless worker. You can't tire the guy out."
Which brings us back to the Breeders' Cup and Hertrich's de-
cision to run for the role as Chairman, less than four years after
becoming a member. He spoke to his wife, his children and ex-
ecutive board members and decided it was something he want-
ed to do to make a contribution to an industry of which he is
extremely passionate. He was unanimously elected because
no one ran against him.
"I joined the board after meeting a number
of board members," he begins when asked

try and thought this in a small way is maybe
something I could get involved in and give
