Now, his son Brian Gingerich and Vice President Nancy Bell are honoring the patriarch by rebranding the firm as "Gingerich Built." The elder Gingerich was a master craftsman in the Amish tradition in his home state of Iowa before relocating to the Monterey Peninsula. He believed that building a better mattress would lead the world to his door, so he and Brian set out to design and market a line of high-quality beds built to the highest standards, using only the finest materials available. They succeeded by focusing on a family-friendly image and market- ing to the hospitality industry. "Our mattresses are in more than 100 hotels," says Brian Gingerich, "including the Portola Hotel & Spa, the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Hofsas House." Many hotel guests have pur- chased the mattresses for their homes after experiencing them while visiting. As testament to the quality of their products, Neiman Marcus featured a Monterey Mattress in its prestigious 2016 "Fantasy Catalog," giving the Gingerich's brand national exposure.
