SiG MT 22 Text by Kay Bjork • Photography by Jim Wells SHOW & TELL ou might say artist Kim Randleas is a late bloomer. Even though she showed an early interest and talent in art as she played with the texture and boldness of charcoal and the magical flow of watercolors, life's natural course filled her time with sports, then college, picking up in intensity when she married, had a family and entered the world of business with her husband running restaurants and a hotel in eastern Oregon. In 2011 they sold the restaurants and Kim thought she would relish her newfound time and freedom. She did – for a while – but then found herself missing the creativity she found as an entrepreneur. So she ordered paints and canvases – and then came the serendipitous event when her father pulled an easel out of the barn and told her, "Maybe you should paint." She thought she had found a new hobby to fill the empty spot in her heart. She was partially right, it filled her heart, but it quickly became much more than a hobby.
