Her delicate use of light helps create the warmth and emotion she wants to convey. Even though she focuses on realism, the backgrounds are sometimes more impressionistic, helping to bring the subject to life. When a painting is finished there is another important step for Randleas – finding the person who connects with the painting by feeling the emotion and understanding the story she has portrayed by capturing a moment in time. When she read about the state of consciousness described as "flow" in a book by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Randleas recognized this as a key element in her work; geing into her flow and seeing where it takes her. And so far, it has taken her to many great places, to fascinating people – and resulted in wonderful paintings. SiG MT 24 S MT "A Brave Girl" Oil on Copper 10" x 8" "Tracks of Another" Oil on Copper 24" x 36" ~A love for words and pictures led Kay Bjork to a career as a feature writer and photographer for numerous newspapers and magazines. Her home and family on Swan Lake have been the subject of many of her stories and photographs about their outdoor adventures including skating , skiing and hiking.
