SiG MT 29 Cargill was founded in 1865. History buffs will tell you that's the same year the Civil War ended. In 1908, it was Cargill's vision to irrigate an area of land we know as the Golden Triangle. Cargill grain elevators have doed the landscape of this region for decades. Today, Cargill is working with local farmers to help sustain our oceans. Yes, oceans. Canola crops flowering a blazing yellow across our landscape are providing important research into yielding a key ingredient: Omega-3. Our main source of Omega-3 is through ingesting salmon. But as the ocean's salmon supply is dwindling, so is our Omega-3 source. Known for promoting heart health as well as cognitive development in young children, Omega-3 research is the primary focus of this facility. Cargill's Senior Trial Agronomist, Keith Horton, says, "We test hybrids. Montana's diverse climate means a hybrid that may work in Canada or even Fairfield may not work well in other areas of the state. When you see one of our fields, we'll have about 1,000 hybrids in those fields. We only put the Omega-3 gene into the top performing hybrids." e goal is to produce Omega-3 rich fish food for fish and salmon farms. Tabacco Construction repurposed old grain- elevator wood into doors, wainscoting, and podiums for the facility. Adam Tabacco says the lobby is a must-see: "Honesty and integrity: it's everything we believe in and try to show in our work and craftsmanship throughout every stage of a project."
