A Body at Rest
Stays at Rest
Sir Isaac Newton's first law
of motion states that a body at
rest stays at rest unless acted
upon by an external force. If
we stay at rest, we are dead.
We must take action. The
world rewards action. is is
the change we seek.
To overcome a motionless,
unchanging state, we need to
overcome the impedance of
static friction (see Figure 1).
It's like trying to move a large,
heavy box by pushing. You
push, but the force is resisted
