Financial Aid and Scholarships The Financial Aid Office, located in Coyote Center at the Pecos Campus and in Bluford Hall at the Williams Campus, is responsible for the following student services functions: • Financial aid • Scholarships • Federal Work-Study Financial Aid Answer Center telephone number is 855-622-2332 (toll free) and available 24 hours/7 days a week. See also: Enrollment Services on page 20 FINANCIAL AID CGCC is committed to providing support to students with financial need. However, students are expected to share in the expenses of attending college. The purpose of the CGCC Financial Aid Office is to assist with this responsibility by determining students' financial need and awarding assistance to eligible students. This is accomplished by evaluating all aid applications through the use of a standard financial needs analysis system that determines how much students and/or their families can afford to contribute toward the college costs. Several types of federal financial aid are available. These include: • Grants - Pell Grant - Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) • Loans - Direct Stafford Loans - Direct Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) • Work-Study - Part-time employment on campus Students must apply and qualify for financial aid each academic year. In order to be considered for assistance, students need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The application process requires approximately two months, so it is best to apply as early as possible before the semester of attendance. Students should complete an application on-line at www.fafsa.gov as soon as possible each year in order to be considered for all available fund programs. Students must be making satisfactory academic progress in order to receive financial aid.
