RETAILOBSERVER.COM NOVEMBER 2014 58 ELECTROLUX AND GENERAL ELECTRIC TO MEET FOR PREMIERE RETAIL MARKETING EVENT, ALIGNED Digital retail marketers from top brands traveled to Boston in September to attend the Aligned Conference, where they gathered to share strategies that empowered independent retailers across the nation. Electrolux and General Electric were among the list of impres- sive players attending this conference. Todd Scott, Digital Retail Integration and Merchandising Manager at Electrolux, lended his expertise on incorporating retailer feedback for more likeable content in his session topic, "Navigating the Feedback Loop: Giving Your Retailers What They Really Want." Jason West, General Manager Merchandising and Training at GE Appliances, lead the session "Helping Busy Retailers in a Noisy Market," digging into his nearly 20 years of experience at the company. Nationwide Marketing Group, the largest home appliance buying group in North America was also in attendance. Unlike any other conference that these appliance brands might attend, the Aligned conference was the first-of-its-kind in focus and audience. Ben Carcio, CEO and Co-Founder of host sponsor Promo- boxx, a startup that is focused on helping independent retailers become better marketers, comments: "Even though we are a young startup, we saw the opportunity for cross-industry collaboration. There is no Brand-To-Retailer event that extends across all verticals and now we have some of the biggest brands in the world attending." Attending appliance brands had the chance to collaborate with top brands in other verticals that will be at Aligned, including Pepsi, Chevrolet, Reebok, Life is Good, Trek Bikes, Volkswagen, Timberland and more, on topics such as incorporating retailer feedback for more likeable content, strengthening the competitive edge, and employing fresh, hyper-local marketing tactics that help independent retailers become better business people. Supporting the event are co-sponsors CraveLabs, a Boston-based mobile ad technology firm, and GoSpotCheck, a mobile app that makes it easy for field teams to collect data. Promoboxx is a Brand-To-Retail Marketing Platform enabling manu- facturing brands to launch co-branded online campaigns with their independent retailers. Through the platform, brands extend campaign reach, increase local awareness and build retailer loyalty. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Boston, Promoboxx works with leading manufacturers in the auto, appliance, outdoor apparel and footwear industries. NATIONWI DE LAU NCH ES N EW PU B LIC WE B SITE Nationwide Marketing Group, the largest buying group in North America, just recently launched a new website. The group's revamped site includes a look and feel similar to Nationwide's intranet site, features a cleaner layout, refined navigation, refreshed copy, new graphics and a strong social media presence. "As we continually encourage our independent retail members to be visible online and maintain a strong presence, we saw an opportunity to refresh our Nationwide brand as well," says Alex Knock, Communications Director for Nationwide. In addition to the group's revamped site, Nationwide's regional divisions, including their Canadian division Cantrex Nationwide, also updated their sites to house their group specific information, but built into the same style as Nationwide's site. This includes Nationwide's category specific groups, RentDirect and Specialty Electronics Nationwide. Frank Sandtner, SVP of Member Services says, "Our primary goal of the new site is to facilitate giving new website visi- tors well organized and easy to navigate information about Nationwide. The visitors can get a sense for the depth of our member services and self-select if they want to take the conversation further, which really represents the power of in- bound marketing." Take a look at the new website here at www.nationwidegroup. org. The new site also offers access to a digital version of the group's Independent Thinking magazine. The most up to date issue of the magazine will be available through the site following its release at Nationwide's twice annual PrimeTime! shows. RO B U Y I N G G R O U P N E W S
