Spending at least two days a week in a library volunteering throughout my pre-teen and teen years, I always found myself distracted reading when I was supposed to be shelving the books. Thankfully, the librarian at the New Gloucester Public Library in Maine, encouraged this distraction with only a few nudges asking me to at a minimum put away the few I had in my hands. My passion for reading has only grown, which I passed on to my three beautiful girls. One would think, being a full-time working mom of three teenage girls would leave me with little time to read. However, I have always found a few minutes to do what I love, read a novel that I can lose myself in, travel back to a different time period, live a life that I fantasize about, or be Sherlock Holmes as I am trying to figure out where this Mystery novel is taking me. I am proud to say that I work at Thorndike Press, working with people who love what they do as much as I do, talking to librarians who have the same passion as I have and working for a company that has always encouraged me to put our family first, allowing me to be an involved and active mom! Sabine McAlpine, Executive Key Account Sales Consultant I highly recommend anything by Jojo Moyes and her most recent title available this month in large print, The Ship of Brides, will not let you down! Jojo Moyes has an amazing way of telling a story. Emotionally attaching myself to the characters, I am always wanting to know what the next page brings. The Ship of Brides follows four Australian war brides — Jean, Margaret, Avice and Frances — as they travel from Australia — to England. Moyes has a way of describing her characters so that you feel their emotions and have a true understanding of their story. Secrets are revealed and friendships are formed, revealing what is was like to live as these women in the 1940s. Having a passion for historical fiction, I found myself equally enjoying the details and accuracy — leaving me with a great appreciation for the research that allowed me to lose myself in this novel. This is a fantastic novel that you want to keep reading and leaves you looking forward to what Jojo Moyes will bring to us next. STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS Thorndike Press wouldn't be the leading Large Print publisher if it weren't for our staff. We are passionate about what we do — which is providing the best overall experience we can for our customers and readers. Additionally, at Thorndike Press we put the "V" in voracious when it comes to reading and loving books! Over the coming months, meet our staff and find out what we are reading and recommending! Enjoy and HAPPY READING!
