How Libraries can Market Large Print Books to Patrons Does your library have a great Large Print collection but the books just aren't circulating? Do your patrons forget that Large Print books are available because they are lodged in a dark, forgotten corner of your library? Then it's time to reach out and make a special effort to promote these books to your community. Here are some best practices to ensure that your Large Print collection circulates at a continuous pace: • Move Large Print close to the entrance of the library where it can be easily seen • Create a display or poster to promote Large Print • Promote the size and depth of your collection on the Library website, social media, bookmarks, receipt slips, newsletters, and blogs • Book talk at Assisted Living Centers and other places Large Print readers gather • Visit senior programs (book clubs, senior fitness, etc.) at the library and promote Large Print books • Use tabletop tent cards to promote Large Print books • Create craft (quilts, cakes, etc.) contests based on Large Print titles • Promote Large Print books to the media (radio, newspapers, TV, etc.) • Keep a current Top-20 Large Print bestsellers list posted in the library and purchase them for the stacks • Ask patrons who read Large Print books to vote on subscriptions to standing orders • Show patrons using ebooks for the first time that they can easily increase the size of the text • Send out a press release promoting Large Print • Work with community groups to help fundraise for Large Print books Need more tips?
