Frankie Valli Serenades Carmel "Jer sey Boys" Star Performs at Eastwood's Tehama B Y R E N E E B R I N C K S J ohn Lloyd Young first met filmmaker Clint Eastwood on Broadway, after Young finished a weekend per- formance as Frankie Valli in the Tony-winning musical, "Jersey Boys." Eastwood had plans to direct a silver screen version of the story, and he stopped backstage to chat with Young after the show. "We had a few words, all very polite and very cursory. It wasn't really a big conversation. But, we had such a nice connection and an instant affinity that I thought, 'I might be doing this movie…'" remembers Young, who was named to the starring role just weeks later. "The ease that we had in that first meeting backstage, after my performance, was the same ease that I had with him the minute I showed up on his set." Young again experienced that level of comfort when he arrived in Carmel to perform at Eastwood's Tehama Golf Club. A packed house showed up for the November show, which featured Young singing R&B John Lloyd Young met Clint Eastwood several years ago after a Broadway performance of "Jersey Boys."
