May / June 2015 35 Obviously, the highlight of the show was the Porsche exhibit. In addition to up close viewing of the stunning new Boxster Spyder, we met several Porsche execs and went backstage. Can you fathom that Porsche has a full suite of 6 private offices and a conference room behind its exhibit? We left Alex in one of the offices as he interviewed for his internship. It was then I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Weinstein, a young man right out of college but also a mover and shaker behind exotic car mega-dealer Manhattan Motors. Adam's family may own Manhattan Motors, but he's paid his dues since he was a kid – starting out by working as a gopher in the Parts Department there. A graduate of the prestigious Automotive Management Program at Northwood University-Florida, Adam is incredibly knowledgeable about the automotive industry as well as the exotic cars his dealership sells: Porsche, Bugatti, Spyker, Lamborghini, Rolls- Royce, Bentley, Lotus, Koenigsegg and MV-1. Manhattan Motors is the only dealership allowed to have a display at the NYIAS, and what a display it was: Koenigsegg Agera, Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron and a Lamborghini Huracan! A barrier kept the New York throngs at bay about 20 feet from these supercars, but the rules didn't apply to us VIPs that day. We got up close and personal with all 4 cars, cultivating a fair amount of hate and discontent amongst the peasantry stuck outside the barriers: "Yo, dude, I'm tryin' to take a picture – can you get the hell away from the Koenigsegg?!" I thought to myself "Why, no, actually . . . I think I'll just stay right here with my breath fogging up the windshield in this here little number." Ha - take that Mr. New Yorker who thinks you're better than us schmucks out here in flyover land! On to the Rolls-Royce exhibit, also blocked off from the crowd, but not from the KCRPCA boys. "Would you care to sit in our Phantom Drophead Coupe, sir?" "Don't mind if I do!" Then to the McLaren exhibit, which by all accounts was huge with 6 cars on display. And here we go again – guided by Tico and whisked to the business side of the barriers, up close and personal with the 570S and the incredible 675LT. Next, we're off to the truck & SUV show floor. Did I mention that Tico used In addition to close up viewing we got to meet the Porsche Execs.
