It incorporates an integrated membrane to prevent direct contact with ambient air. The membrane keeps fl uid "vacuum packed" with a low gas and water content. The membrane's closed sys- tem also allows the unit to be installed in extremely dusty or humid environments. Increased oil service life is possible due to 80 percent less oxygen content and reduced contaminant ingression. Other benefi ts include decreased oil volume and reduced noise. Hydac www.hydac.com 490-6897-50901 GREASE TESTER The Hydraulic Grease Press from Albers Engineering allows users to determine the amount of solid particles contaminating a grease. Using the test apparatus, a certain amount of grease is pressed through a fi ne sieve. Particles contaminating the grease are retained in the sieve and are subject to further analysis. The method used conforms to DIN standard 51813 and is applicable to greases not containing any solid lubricants. Different sample volumes and sieves are available. Once the MLI is mounted to the machine, liquid fl ows freely up and down within the MLI chamber. A specially designed fl oat inside the chamber contains a magnet that interacts with the indicator assembly on the outside of the chamber. This magnetic coupling allows the process level to be shown via the use of rotating fl ags. As the level rises and falls, the fl ags change color to provide real-time indication of the liquid level within the machine. SOR www.sorinc.com 800-676-6794 ULTRASONIC DETECTOR UE Systems' new Ultraprobe 401 Digital Grease Caddy Pro (UP401) offers the abil- ity to trend data and identify the amount of lubricant applied in order to optimize equipment maintenance. By translating inaudible ultrasonic bearing sounds to an audible noise heard by the inspector and indicated on the display panel, the UP401 enables users to determine precisely the right amount of lubricant. To use the device, operators only need to watch the digital display while applying lubricant. Once the decibel level drops to the baseline, the job is complete.
