The Dean will develop a strategy that unifies and reinforces the strengths of its two great traditions in Newark and New Brunswick. In Newark, RBS is the leader in the University's deep engagement with its urban host city, building on the campus' decades-long commitment to providing access to educational excellence for its students -- from the bachelor's to the PhD level -- many of whom are children of immigrants or the first in their families to attend college. RBS New Brunswick is being transformed from a small, elite business major in a great research university to a large highly selective undergraduate and graduate business school with programs linked to the University's strengths in the sciences and technology broadly conceived. The Dean will build on these strong foundations to take RBS to new levels of distinction in teaching, research and engagement with the business community. RBS plays an increasingly vital role in the growth of Rutgers University in both New Brunswick and Newark. Its ties to the rest of the University will broaden and deepen as it works in partnership with other schools and colleges on joint initiatives like the recently launched multidisciplinary curriculum that integrates innovative business education with science and technology. RBS also serves as an important link between the University and its communities, both in the region and globally. RBS benefits from its location and deep connection to Northern/Central New Jersey and New York City with close relationships with major pharmaceutical companies, financial services firms, and other drivers of the economy. It benefits greatly from the diversity on the Newark campus – ranked #1 nationwide in diversity for the last 14 years. The School offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees to some 5,600 students on its two main campuses in Newark and New Brunswick as well as six satellite campuses in New Jersey, China and Singapore. The new Dean will begin at a time of tremendous opportunity at RBS with significant growth in the student body and the faculty, a new state-of-the-art facility in Newark, and a new facility in New Brunswick to be completed in 2013. The School currently has more than 3800 undergraduates, 1800 graduate students and 160 faculty with plans to expand the student body by 28 percent and the full-time faculty by 23 percent in the next six years. The Dean will lead the School in managing this growth, recruiting additional top-notch faculty, uniting the School around a vision that reflects its commitment to addressing the issues faced by Rutgers' corporate and public partners around the world, and positioning the School for future competitive success. S/he will also generate the financial resources to make that vision a reality. The University has retained the executive search firm of Isaacson, Miller to assist with the search. Applications, nominations and inquiries should be directed in confidence to: Kathryn Barry, Senior Associate, Isaacson Miller, 263 Summer Street, Boston, MA 02210, Email: RBS@imsearch.com. Electronic submission of materials is strongly encouraged RUTGERS UNIVERSITY IS AN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER BizEd
