This month I will continue
my extreme detailing
with the top of the engine
compartment on a Boxster.
I'm surprised on how few people have ever
seen a Boxster with the engine cover open;
even owners who have had their Boxster
for years have no idea on how to open their
engine compartment. So, I will start with
how to get to the engine cover and to open
it:
1. Start opening up your top; stop the top
when it pulls about 2 or 3 inches away
from the windshield frame (see picture
#1). Withdraw the ignition key so that
the convertible top cannot be operated
unintentionally.
2. You will find a cable below each side of
the top. Follow the cable down to where it
is connected. Pull out to disconnect the ball
