T
his last weekend the crew and I ventured
south to finish off the race season with one
last endurance race with World Racing
League (WRL). Eight drivers consisted of Mike
Armentrout, Bill Munholland, Kai Bach, Aaron
Winter, Chris Arbuckle, Kris Loveless, Wes Mc-
Cullough, and myself. Al Hess had to sit this one
out unfortunately, but there is always next year!
I had prepped two cars for this race, one our old
trusty Car 54, an 85.5 944, and we decided to
move the Spec Boxster into an endurance series
car, so that was the other.
Kai, Kris, Bill, and Wes ran Car 54 (GP3
class), with Mike, Chris, Aaron, and myself run-
ning the Boxster (GP1 class). The competition
was about 30 cars strong, and incredibly tough
for an end of season race. With 3 brand new
drivers to endurance racing on the team, we defi-
nitely were not the most efficient in our pit stops
(winter training will commence shortly on that),
but all in all we did ok.
The 9 hour race on Saturday was uneventful
for both cars until about 5 minutes left in the race
when Car 54 shelled the pinion in the transmis-
sion. I can count the number of times on one
hand we have had a DNF in car 54, but at least
it was at the end of the season, and you can only
expect so many years out of an $800 tranny.
