DEAN, COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT Saginaw Valley State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Business and Management. The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and is responsible for the administration of four disciplinary departments: Accounting, Economics, Law & Finance, and Management & Marketing. Facts About the College of Business and Management: • The College achieved AACSB accreditation in 2003 • Approximately 729 undergraduates and 69 graduate students • 23 full-time faculty; 2 endowed chairs (Global Business and International Business); and 2 execu- tives-in-residence • Majors in accounting, economics, finance, manage- ment, marketing, and international business • Extensive undergraduate evening program and an evening MBA program • College housed in facility constructed in 1997 with state-of-the-art technology in each classroom Facts About the University: • 9,168 students, as of Fall 2003 • 245 full-time equivalent faculty • Located four miles north of Saginaw in the center of a tri-county area with a population of more than 400,000 • Close to several other cultural centers, recreational facilities and scenic areas of Northern Michigan • Modern, well-equipped facilities, stable budget, healthy environment Qualifications: • An earned Doctorate in an appropriate discipline • Leadership in AACSB accreditation maintenance • A record of teaching and scholarly achievement suffi- cient to warrant a senior rank • Experience as a dean, chair or a comparable adminis- trative position with fiscal responsibility • Experience in or the ability to work with the private sector • Commitment to decision-making within the context of shared governance and collective bargaining Duties and Responsibilities: • Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs • Provides leadership and guidance in the following areas: —ability to articulate and advance the goals of the college within the context of the larger university and its educational mission —curriculum development and review —ability to interact effectively with external commu- nity and alumni —maintenance of accreditation by the AACSB —faculty and staff development —effective teaching and innovative instruction —promoting faculty research and community service —recruitment and retention of minority faculty and students —a commitment to cultural diversity and international education • Generate resources and support for faculty research and development • Develop community outreach programs and generate support from the business community Salary and Benefits: • Salary will depend on experience and qualifications Starting Date: • On or before July 1, 2005 Application and Nominations: • Should be submitted by October 15, 2004, but applica- tions will be accepted until the position is filled • A complete and updated resume with a letter of appli- cation • Names, addresses and telephone numbers of three ref erences Send materials to: Dr. Robert S.
