ASSOCIATE DEAN The Hartford Division of the Lally School of Management and Technology at Rensselaer (www.rh.edu) is a progressive school of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute that focuses on education for the working professional. With over 1000 part-time students seeking MBA or Master of Science degrees in business and management, computer science, information technology, and engineering, our mission is to educate working professionals with outstanding graduate degree programs. We have an excellent opportunity for a candidate for the Associate Dean of the Division. The Associate Dean will lead and manage the graduate level programs of the Rensselaer @ Hartford Lally Department of Management and Technology, including all master's degree and certificate programs in the areas of management and business administration. The Hartford Department is part of the AACSB accredited Lally School of Management and Technology of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The Associate Dean is responsible for recruiting and managing a faculty consisting of tenured/tenure-track and clinical members who are fully capable of meeting the needs of the department and are strategically aligned with department's focus. Major goals for the Associate Dean are consistent, continued improvement of the faculty and development of an externally-funded research portfolio. The Associate Dean will be responsible for developing degree and professional development programs attractive to technical executives and high-end working professionals. This is a full-time, 12-month position. In addition to the above functions and scope, the Associate Dean will direct, manage, and coordinate the educational and research processes and activities of the Hartford Department of Management and Technology to achieve successful outcomes based on the objectives of the Rensselaer Plan and the policies, processes, programs, and practices of the Lally School. This includes degree programs; the faculty who teach in those programs; the staff who support the programs; the resources used to manage the associated educational processes and activities; and the students—who are the primary focus. The incumbent oversees all the programs, courses and curriculum, resources, budgets, and personnel of the Hartford Lally Department. Rensselaer at Hartford's campus is located in the center of Connecticut, well positioned within a corridor of many of America's largest corporations and entrepreneurial organizations. The region offers a rich and diverse cross section of industries and financial institutions. Hartford is conveniently located within a short distance to many cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities. The following education and experience are requirements for the position: • Ph.D. in a management or business discipline, preferably in Innovation and Entrepreneurship or Lean Enterprise Management. • Significant and successful industrial experience which may include consulting. • Demonstrated record of publications and the acquisition of external research funding. • Evidence of highly effective teaching at the graduate level. • Tenurable at the Rank of Full Professor.
