Stephens College of Business University of Montevallo The University of Montevallo, Alabama's pub- lic liberal arts university, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean, Michael E. Stephens College of Business. Montevallo is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC), a national alliance of leading liberal arts col- leges in the public sector. With an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students, UM empha- sizes high quality education and teaching. Adjacent to metropolitan Birmingham in one of the nation's fastest growing counties, Montevallo provides attractive living in a mod- erate climate with ready access to numerous metropolitan and recreational resources. The Stephens College of Business Accredited by the AACSB and benefiting from an outstanding Advisory Board consisting of business and community leaders, Montevallo's Stephens College of Business has fourteen full-time faculty, a support staff of two, and offers the B.B.A. in accounting, finance, management, management informa- tion systems, and marketing to approximately 375 majors. The College is actively involved in international exchange programs, has out- standing computing facilities, and enjoys gen- erous support for its programs. Dean's Responsibilities Reporting to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean's general respon- sibilities include but are not limited to: leader- ship of the faculty in their teaching, scholar- ship, and service roles; budget management; faculty development/evaluation; maintenance of AACSB International-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accreditation; advancement of relations with alumni and business communities; active pro- motion of the College's programs; assistance in student recruitment; facilitating the place- ment of graduates; strengthening the College's extramural funding base; teaching; research; and service in addition to other related duties. Qualifications • Earned doctorate in a discipline within the Stephens College and credentials commen- surate with appointment at the rank of Professor; • Five or more years of administrative experi- ence at or above the level of department chair, or equivalent experience in a business environment; • Experience with and commitment to AACSB accreditation; • Successful experience in development and external fund raising; • Demonstrated success in teaching, research/scholarship, and service; • Demonstrated ability to develop and main- tain productive relationships with internal and external constituencies; • Understanding and appreciation of UM's lib- eral arts mission and ability to articulate same.
