January / February 2016 36 and pull the cars through the turns, we decided to find something to drink. Lucky for us a tent, tables and liquid refreshments were a short walk. We sat in the cool shade of the tent, taking in the sights and sounds. Below us 53,000 of our closest Porsche friends were milling about. With Porsche friends comes Porsche cars. Time to check #3 off on our list, the Porsche Paddock Parking lot. The Porsche Paddock Parking is something to be- hold. It is best described as a Chiefs football game parking lot, but the lot is full of Porsches. All kinds of Porsches organized by year make and model. On our way there, we ran into Ric Smith and his lovely wife Wendy and kids. We shared enjoyment stories of the event as we headed to the paddock parking. Up and down a few aisles and we waved out good bye to Ric and company. We also waved good by to Laguna Seca, we had officially checked everything off out list. But what to do now? Up and early on Sunday with everything accomplished. We decide to head up the coast. Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay were only hours away. Boxster top down, GPS set, and we were off on our next adventure, which did not disappoint. The California scenic highway is beautiful. It crested and fell, taking us above fog covered highway passes were we could see for miles, only to plunge us back into utter gray. As if by magic the fog lifted at Santa Cruz beckoning us to venture out on to the pier. Once there, sea lions sang a one note song. A quick pic sent to the kids brought texting-squeals of delight. Modern tech- nology will never replace the smell of sea salt, or the sun as is warms your skin, or the smell of a sea lion. Peeee–wheuuu!!! Santa Cruz was in our rearview mirror. We were headed to Half Moon Bay and lunch. Yelp! (an
