Porsche does things first
class. Their area was a buzz
with action. Factory engi-
neer guest speakers were
teaching about the 991. A
prominent display featured
an early aluminum bodied
356 coupe, the red and white
917 that was Porsche's first
win at Le Mans, and the cur-
rent Le Mans winning 919.
We found a huge banner
where attendees could sign
their name, proof of having
made it to the historic event.
Then lo and behold we found
the Porsche Rennsport Store!
After we secured a small
loan to pay for everything,
we could check the souvenir
gifts off the list. Feeling a
bit lighter in the wallet, we
headed out of the Porsche
factory display area, with #1
and #4 being checked off our
list.
And surprisingly we found
#2, the top of Laguna Seca,
waiting no more than a few
feet way. Parked in front of
us was a sparkling new Ma-
can Turbo. The organizers
had Macans shuttling attend-
ees from the Porsche store to
the top of Laguna Seca and
the corkscrew. Thank you, I
don't mind if I do.
From the top of Laguna
Seca you can see for miles in
all directions. The racetrack
winds like a serpent in the
sand, through the grounds
and all around you. Fred and
I made a bee line to the cork-
screw. How do they do that?
How do they drive it so fast?
After watching gravity twist
Porsche's as far as the eye could see...
