CHAIR OF ACCOUNTING University of Arkansas at Little Rock The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications for a tenure-track position as Chair of the Department of Accounting effective January 1, 2004. Candidates must have an earned doctorate with a major in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited university and a CPA certificate. Academic experience and publication record must be sufficient to merit appointment as an Associate or Full Professor. Administrative experience is preferred. The Norfolk State University School of Business is accredited by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The School has 32 full-time faculty and is com- prised of five departments: Accounting, Management and Decision Sciences, Management Information Systems, Entrepreneurship, Finance and Marketing and Tourism and Hospitality Management. The School of Business also houses the Center for Entrepreneurship, one of NSU's five Centers for Excellence. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of successful leadership in an accredited business school. He or she must also have experience in securing AACSB accreditation along with extensive experience in innovations in cur- riculum design, in fostering faculty development, in encouraging the uses of technology for instruction, in fostering an environment that promotes outstanding teaching, research, and service and the ability to lead the faculty toward greater involvement in NSU's RISE Center, a cutting-edge, high-technology, corporate research park and business incubation facility. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable of trends in national and international business, experienced in strategic planning, adept at fundraising, and capable of garnering the support of private sector leaders, alumni and exter- nal publics in order to advance the mission of the School of Business and its various constituents. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must: possess an earned doctorate in business or a related field; have at least ten years of academic administrative experience in a School of Business; qualify for the rank of professor in one of the School's fields or disciplines; be an energetic, creative and visionary leader capable of inspiring faculty, staff and students dedicated to moving the School to a level of unparalleled excellence; have outstanding leadership qualities, a collegial management style, excellent oral and written communication skills and knowledge of public sector planning and budgetary processes; and have a reputation built on integrity, loyalty and professionalism.
