Classifieds Alfred University is an independent, coeducational insti- tution founded in 1836. Located on a scenic 232-acre cam- pus in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains just over an hour's drive from Rochester, New York, the University includes the College of Business, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering and Professional Studies, and the New York State College of Ceramics. Alfred University invites nominations and expressions of interest for the posi- tion of Dean of the College of Business. ALFRED UNIVERSITY The Dean will provide academic leadership to 16 full-time faculty in a College which enrolls 250 full-time under- graduates and 30 part-time and 15 full-time MBA stu- dents. As the College is undergoing AACSB affirmation of the BS degree and initial accreditation for the MBA pro- gram, candidates to this position must have familiarity with the AACSB process. In addition, candidates must have the following qualifications: • a collaborative, ethical, innovative and effective leader- ship style • ability to advocate the College's mission and position to various University constituencies • excellent financial and budgetary management skills • a record of successful teaching and scholarly activity • a commitment to high academic standards • the ability to foster scholarship in an institution com- mitted to undergraduate teaching • a belief in the importance of interdisciplinary, multicul- tural, gender and family friendly concerns • experience in recruiting and retaining excellent faculty • familiarity with the principles of strategic planning • a deep commitment to student learning and development • the ability to initiate and implement innovative academ- ic programs The Search Committee will begin review of applications on November 1, 2003 and continue until position is filled. Candidates should submit a letter of interest in the position addressing the search criteria noted above, a resume, and a list of five references. The new Dean will assume office on or about July 1, 2004.
