Footnotes 2014 RANCHO ® 224 FOOTNOTES MUST BE READ! THEY CONTAIN IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS PERTAINING TO CERTAIN APPLICATIONS. 1. Front shock must be installed rod end down (without shock boot). 2. 1976 1 ⁄2 - 1986 Blazer or Jimmy and short bed pickups with a 4 9 suspension system will require a transfer case lowering kit part number RS6631. Some vehicles equipped with 2 1 ⁄2 9 suspension system may experience a driveline vibration. Part number RS6631 can be used to possibly correct the vibration, but a driveline vibration may still be present. CAUTION: RANCHO ® DOES NOT RECOMMEND INSTALLING A 4 9 SUSPENSION SYSTEM ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE "LONG" REAR TAIL SHAFT HOUSING, REAR UNIVERSAL WEAR WILL BE ACCELERATED AND DRIVELINE VIBRATION WILL OCCUR. 4. Check the Shock Application section for the correct shocks used on vehicles which come equipped with OE Quad Suspension or Add on Dual Shock Option. 5. On CJ's with 4 speed transmissions, rear driveline will need to be lengthened, transfer case cross member will need to be lowered from frame 1 ⁄2 9 and driveline vibration will occur. Use Lowering Bracket Kit to lower transfer case 1 ⁄2 9 . Part No. RS6633 fits 1941- 1975. Part No. RS6639 fits 1976-1986. 6. If these vehicles have a Detroit-type driveline, the driveline must be replaced by a Spicer-type driveline. 8. If tie rod assembly is Diagram 1 - inverted "Y" it must be changed to Diagram 2 later model, 1978-79, inverted "T" style, (see below). CAUTION: SOME VEHICLES WILL BE UNABLE TO CHANGE TO THE INVERTED "T", THEREFORE A DUAL STABILIZER OR A SUSPENSION SYSTEM CANNOT BE INSTALLED. VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A POWER STEERING CYLINDER CANNOT BE CONVERTED TO THE INVERTED "T". 9. Rancho ® highly recommends the use of the constant velocity (Spicer style) front driveshaft, as used in the Jeep factory trailer towing option. The Jeep original equipment, light duty, double offset joint, front driveshaft should not be used if any of the following conditions occur. If you have Select-Track Option. If you drive 55-65 mph for long periods of time. You tow a trailer. You use your vehicle to pull other vehicles out from being stuck. If you use the light duty driveshaft you will experience driveshaft boot wear and will need to re-pack the offset joint periodically and replace the boot periodically. 10. 1987-90 4WD Blazer or Jimmy and short bed pickups with a 4 9 suspension system will require a transfer case lowering kit part number RS6640. Some vehicles equipped with 2 1 ⁄2 9 suspension system may experience a driveline vibration. Part number RS6640 can be used to possibly correct the vibration, but a driveline vibration may still be present. The exhaust cross pipe will need to be modified to clear front drive shaft. 11. RS8701 is required to restore the turning radius, on right turns. 12. If the rear of your vehicle is equipped with a height-sensitive brake proportioning valve, contact your local dealer for correct adjustment procedure of the proportioning valve. CAUTION: VEHICLES WITH NO ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE, RANCHO ® DOES NOT RECOMMEND INSTALLATION OF THE ADD-LEAF OR LEV-A LOAD. 13. Block Kit No. RS70054 is required with RS86209 Rear Spring for a 4 9 lift. 14. Full Size Lev-A-Load Kits will not fit vehicles with factory overload mounted above leaf spring. 15. Vehicles with a 13 1 ⁄4 9 rear driveshaft will require a transfer case lowering kit RS6644. 18. The net raised height achieved with this system is dependent upon the adjustment of the torsion bars prior to installation. Example: If the Rancho ® System is listed as 3 9 , but the torsion bars on a vehicle are adjusted to 1 9 over stock, the net raised height will be 2 9 . The net raised height will be 1 9 less on vehicles equipped with the Z71 Off Road Package. 20. Additional washers may be required to increase space between shocks on lower mount. 21. On 1976-81 CJ5, CJ7, Scrambler 2 1 ⁄2 9 Suspension System RS5119 & RS999119 may be too short and you must use RS5113 & RS999113 with a 2 9 bump stop. 22. Part No. RS8125 axle shim kit may be required on rear axle for shock-to-axle clearance. 23. I.D. of shock bushing is smaller than mounting pin & requires lubrication & extra effort for installation. 24. Slight grinding of lower control arm is required. 25. Steering arm may contact shock body on RS5113, RS5119, RS999113 & RS999119 on FJ43 & FJ45. Install shock boot towards ground for additional clearance. 26. RS996 Rockcrawler Bushing Rebuild Kit is Available (Rebuilds one Link - 4 Kits required for completed vehicle.) 35. Height will vary due to inconsistent factory height. 36. On M38, vehicle spring anchor mounts will need to be drilled out and you must buy Jeep spring anchor bolt Part No. RS384228 (4 per vehicle) to install springs. Available from your Jeep dealer. 37. Remove 1 ⁄2 9 O.D. x 7 ⁄16 9 I.D. sleeves, if used, from the old spring shackle ends and insert sleeves into the Rancho ® bushings. 40.
