Comfortably nestled in central Arizona, where the high desert meets the scrub pine, the town has a four-season climate with relatively mild winters. Today, the famous Whiskey Row in downtown boasts many historic buildings, including the Palace, Arizona's oldest restaurant and bar. The community proudly boasts over 800 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. In addition, many other historical buildings have been converted to boutiques, art galleries, bookstores and restaurants. With several lakes, mountains, over 450 miles of trails and surrounded by the world's largest Ponderosa Pine forest, Prescott is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Over 1,000 mountain bikers assemble in Prescott each April for the famous "Whiskey Off-Road Marathon," a multi-day event including a challenging 50-mile mountain bike race, a $20,000 purse, live bands and entertainment. With the many unique retail establishments, professional businesses and manufacturing opportunities, Prescott is the regional center for trade. It accommodates a business climate with hometown values and friendly people, as well as easy access to major transportation corridors and Prescott's airport, Ernest A. Love Field. Prescott is home to four colleges and an extension of Northern Arizona University, that provide excellent training for a ready workforce. Population/Demographics Prescott is the county seat of Yavapai County and is conveniently located 96 miles northwest of Phoenix and 90 miles southwest of Flagstaff, Arizona.
