IN/BOX continued FORECAST 2016 / STORM & SECURITY PROTECTION 7 NLBMDA Ready to Lobby Washington on Behalf of Dealers The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) has set its 2016 National Policy Agenda focusing on jobs, housing and construction, tax policy and sound fiscal policies. "NLBMDA stands ready to work with policymakers on job creation and sound fiscal policies that support a healthy housing market," said NLBMDA Chair Scott Yates, president and general manager, Denver Lumber Co., Denver, CO. "The 2016 National Policy Agenda provides a framework for streamlining government regulations, reducing abusive lawsuits and maintaining workforce flexibility needed for sustained economic growth." The association's agenda includes the industry's positions on: housing and construction policy; tax and economic policy; legal reform and consumer protection; workforce poli- cy; environment, health and safety; product supply and trade; energy policy; transportation policy; and highway safety. "NLBMDA is dedicated to protecting the interests of the lumber and building material industry and will continue its work with Congress and the Obama Administration to reduce burdensome regulations, promote responsible economic policies, and continue advancing the housing recovery," said NLBMDA President and CEO Jonathan Paine. NLBMDA's 2016 National Policy Agenda will be distribut- ed to members of Congress and key administration officials and will be used by NLBMDA members when they visit their elected representatives during the NLBMDA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference April 18 to 20 in Washington, D.C. PCA Announces Recipients of Inaugural 2016 Resilience Leadership Awards The Portland Cement Association (PCA) has announced recipients of its inaugural 2016 Resilience Leadership Awards. The awards recognize individuals, organizations and projects that have advocated, communicated, and showcased the benefits of durable construction and the importance of concrete in achieving resilience. Resilience Leadership Award winners practice their messages in a variety of arenas, including education, community organization, construction and code enhancement. Awards are presented in several categories such as individual achievement; community leadership; and new public, commercial, residential and multifamily building. These inaugural awards coincide with PCA's Centennial Anniversary, which will be celebrated throughout 2016. Among the recipients is the Boy Scouts of America, Heart of America Council, Kansas City, MO, in the New Safe Room Construction category.
