Julia's March sale grossed nearly $18 million, making it by far the largest grossing firearms auction in history. The sale included Session 1 of the historic collection assembled by the late Wes Adams. The fall session, set for September 29-30 in Fairfield, Maine, will feature Session 2 of the Adams Collection, with more spectacular Winchesters, Colts and Marlins. In addition, it will include the first offering of Adams' amazing Savage collection, probably the finest in existence. Firearms of note include a magnificent cased, silver-plated presentation Savage Model 66, $100,000-$200,000; a platinum inlaid Marlin engraved M1893 Deluxe, $30,000-$50,000; and a Savage M99 T.D. Monarch grade, engraved and with an intricately carved stock, $20,000-$30,000. Julia's consistently offers the finest shotguns and sporting rifles, and this sale is no exception. Included is a Rigby Rising Bite .350 with relief engraving, built for H.H. Mohd Nasrulla Kahn and possibly the finest Rigby known, $40,000- $60,000 and an exquisite Purdey 28 gauge (owned by ex-golfer Tom Watson), $70,000-$90,000. The sale will also offer a magnificent presentation Mauser 71/84 with superb relief engraving and multi- color gold inlay and lavish relief carved stock with ivory inlay and horn filigree.
