Peach Springs, Arizona is also home to Grand Canyon Resort Corporation, which operates Grand Canyon West, home of the world famous glass bridge Skywalk, the Hualapai Ranch, the Hualapai Lodge and the Hualapai River Runners. Route 66 runs right through Peach Springs, where the Hualapai Lodge is located which includes the award winning, Diamond Creek Restaurant. One hundred eight miles of the Grand Canyon is located on the Hualapai reservation. The west rim is home to Grand Canyon West, which is just two hours from Las Vegas, and an hour and half from Route 66. As Route 66 continues to meander its way through many states with increases and drops in elevation, the route through Peach Springs, is a smooth ride, with scenery including the nearby Joshua Tree Forest, and Kingman, AZ. As time progressed, newer, faster routes emerged as other means of transcontinental travel, and the high volume of travelers on Route 66 slowly diminished, however many still make the trek to experience the true old west as they drive through the Route in northern Arizona. For those making the long stretch on the Route, guests can stay over at the Hualapai Lodge. The Lodge boasts 56 rooms for overnight lodging and accommodations complete with a full service restaurant. The Lodge is also the boarding location for the seasonal one day white water rafting trip down the Colorado, which includes up to level 5 rapids, lunch on the river, and a hike up to Travertine Falls, nestled inside the walls of the Grand Canyon. Or for those, who dare to stay the night on the river, enjoy the all-new overnight paddle river- rafting excursion, also leaving from the Hualapai Lodge, between the months of March and October each year. Rafting trips end near Grand Canyon West, home of the world famous Skywalk. Grand Canyon West is located on the western side of Grand Canyon National Park, just two short hours from Las Vegas, and a small detour off of Route 66, near the surrounding towns of Kingman and Dolan Springs. Grand Canyon West hosts over one million visitors annually. Here at Grand Canyon West, experience the culture and hospitality as you meet the Hualapai people, hear the music, and watch traditional performances. Dine by the canyon rim and walk the sky on the Skywalk; voted one of the top observation decks in the world. For more information about the Hualapai Tribe, the history of the land, and the old stories unique to this region, stop at the Hualapai Cultural center and take away some true history of Route 66 and the nearby Canyon, or visit our website at www.goroute66.com or www.grandcanyonwest.com. ©Grand Canyon West
