TOUR
There are several companies
that operate D-Day tours
in the area, but it would be
hard to top Normandy D-Day
Tours, operated by Guillaume
Marie. Marie is one of the few
native Normans to run a tour
company, which gives him an
unmatched perspective on
the subject. Early in the tour,
he tells us how his grand-
mother heard a knock on the
door early in the morning
on June 6, and opened her
door to find two U.S. paratroopers seeking
help, which she offered them. His nine-seat
Peugeot van sports dogtags–German and
American--given to him by veterans and un-
earthed during a lifetime of living in Nor-
mandy. His knowledge of the subject, as
well as his warmth and enthusiasm, make it
a day to remember. He will customize tours
of the American, Canadian or British sector,
offers a Band of Brothers tour following the
trail of the 101st Airborne's Easy Company
made famous in the HBO series, or anything
else your group would like to do. Of his 129
Trip Advisor reviews, 128 give him a five-
star rating, and one curmudgeon gives him
a "very good" four-star rating. (That was not
me.) It's a can't miss.
