takes it to a whole new level. "It's the
most quintessentially British event
on the racing calendar and unbeliev-
able fun," Ferner Robson continues.
"It has a very beautiful, very elegant
dress code, completely unique and
wonderfully British. It really is some-
thing. And Oliver Brown is privileged
to be an Official Licensee, and as such
able to sell the Royal Ascot Collection
at the racecourse during Royal Ascot
week. It's a great event to be part of,
and it's always a success for us. "
Visitors to Royal Ascot will have
tickets to one of four areas: the Roy-
al Enclosure, the Queen Anne Enclo-
sure, the Village Enclosure or the
Windsor Enclosure. A different dress
code applies to each. The Royal En-
closure, where entry is by invitation
only, has the strictest guidelines,
while the Windsor Enclosure is the
most relaxed, although smart dress is
still encouraged.
It is the Royal Enclosure that gains
the most media attention – where ce-
lebrities and other VIPs are spotted in
their formal morning dress, complete
with a waistcoat, tie and top hat. It is
the outfit of a bygone era, which is
a nod to the history and tradition of
the event itself, originally founded in
1711 by Queen Anne and still attend-
ed by the British Royal Family, who
arrive at the Royal Enclosure each day
by horse-drawn carriage.
