What is your proudest moment in racing?
It was winning the title at Saratoga
for the 11th consecutive year; I think
that is probably one of the biggest
accomplishments of my career. The year
I won the 11th title, I got hurt the year
EHIRUHDQG,ZDVRXWIRUƬYHPRQWKV,
started riding in the middle of July and the
doctor said that because he had to remove
my spleen and operate on my liver that I
wouldn't be able to take the heat of the
competition as I had before. I wasn't riding
that many horses when we left Belmont.
When we got to Saratoga, I knew that to
win the title I had to ride every race and

it probably was not going to be too good
for me to get on so many horses in the
morning and ride in the afternoon in my
condition. And I did it and I'm very proud
that I was able to do that. The next year I
was healthy and I got beat. That made me
more proud than anything. It made me a
very proud person to come back from an

months - and to go to Saratoga and win the
title.
