Best decision you made with your career?
In 1962, the second year I was riding in
my country, I got suspended six months
for cursing out the starter. My lawyer got
an injunction for me to me to ride. The
second day I rode, they gave me another
suspension for not maintaining a straight
line. They gave me like four months. So
that was almost a year. My lawyer told me
he could get me out of the four months
for not maintaining a straight line
in the stretch, because that was
ridiculous. But he said I can't

me that he had to make a deal to get out
of the suspension and that I would have
to leave Puerto Rico. So my best decision
was coming to the United States and
becoming a lucky person and winning a lot
of races. I always feel bad about that, that
I was thrown out of my country. But in the
meantime they probably did me the best
favor because I probably would have never
come to the United States.
