• 17 FARM 406 ACCURACY BEYOND MEASURE John Deere unveils its largest air cart yet, the C850. The new addition bumps up capacity to 850 bushel, which is 55% larger than previous models. Seed an entire quarter section without refilling. The C850 has 260, 130 and 410 bushel main tanks along with a 50 bushel small-product tank at the front. They ride on load cells, enabling the operator to use the new active calibration feature and fine tune metering rates right from the tractor cab. The C850 also uses the dual fan AirPower 2 system. "If you want to see rates higher than 550 lbs.per acre, just slow it down from 5.5 (m.p.h.) to 5 or 4.8 and you can see rates as high as 600 and even upwards of 700 lbs. of product through it," says John Deere product specialist, Tyler Harris. The John Deere C850 is compatible with the 76-foot 1870 Air Hoe Drill; and 50- and 60-foot 1890 No-till Air Drills. The cart can also be equipped with AirPower2, ActiveCal™, Acres Remaining, Section Command™ and Hydraulic Wireless Conveyance features. It also gets disc brakes on the rear axle to help with stability both in the field and during road transport.
