SAFETY F Making Hockey Safer. Your Gift: or the last two years, your gifts have helped The USA Hockey Foundation issue grants to the Mayo Clinic for their hockey research team to study the effects of concussions on athletes. The results of the study will help provide scientific support of advancements in the game which will help make hockey safer. The Mayo team will bring a better scientific understanding of concussions, and will supply evidence-based data to guide rule change and refinement. Dr. Michael Stuart M.D. says that "the objective of all hockey research at Mayo Clinic is to help grow the great game of hockey in both quantity and quality." The Foundation is happy to have partnered with the Mayo Clinic to help make the greatest game on ice safer for all participants. These grants are used for initiatives the affiliate couldn't afford otherwise, but are vital to grow the sport in their area. Some examples are: • to purchase equipment used at Try Hockey For Free Days and other introductory clinics • to help implement the American Development Model with the purchase of cross-ice boards Your gift has helped local programs that wouldn't be able to grow due to cost barriers. Thank you for supporting the growth of hockey in America! 3 • to purchase sleds for disabled athletes to use • for coaching awareness and rule change programs
