ROGER A. GODIN St. Paul, Minnesota M Why I Give y support for The USA Hockey Foundation can be traced to my lifelong missionary zeal for our sport as played by Americans. When I became the first director of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth, Minnesota, the United States had a handful of NHL players and considerably less than 50% of Division I college players. Our senior and junior international teams, with the exception of certain Olympic squads, were routinely the whipping boys at these high- level events. Now looking back at the last 40 years, our accomplishments through the efforts of USA Hockey have been nothing short of amazing: 6 • The Olympic gold medals in 1980 and 1998 and the World Cup triumph in 1996 stand out • The creation of the National Development Program at Ann Arbor and the resultant success of our U-17, U-18 and junior teams • The subsequent increased American presence in the NHL is a major achievement • Our American women have made us all proud with their championship play at the international level Jonathan Quick • Circle of Champions Member • Curator, Minnesota Wild
