was older and more mature. He knew his purpose was to
be mindful of the wagon. Ride was younger, energetic
and mischievous. The wagoneer paired them because it
was the young and old coming together for a common
purpose," says Steve. And that's what this family intends
to achieve in Rock Ride Ranch.
Working with builder Matthew Pethel, and architect
James Klippel, the Rosols determined a log home
fit their vision of an Americana meets Tuscan
farmhouse look.
Four-inch thick Douglas Fir, reclaimed from an 1800's Idaho sawmill, received
a charred finish for the island.
"The memories were there, but the 'go forward' was
gone," says Steve, "I didn't want to just own land and
never build. I wanted to build the home my dad never
built and enjoy it with my family."
The name "Rock Ride" was formulated on family
memories. When Steve and Mary Rosol asked their
children (Stephanie, 27, Michelle, 25, Curtis, 21) to
recall their favorite family vacation, they unanimously
mentioned a 2001 RV excursion to Yellowstone and the
