CK: The biggest problem is that peo- ple are so removed from horses now- adays. A generation or two ago, they had a greater connection to horses. As we lose our countryside, people lose contact with them and they be- come foreign to people. So, we have to get them in the door through ex- citing or entertaining things. Dev- on Horse Show has Ladies Day for example, which focuses on fashion. They have an amazing hat contest, a fashion sweepstakes, celebrity judg- es and we make a day of it. We get a lot of women through the gates that didn't know they wanted to come see a horse show, they wanted to enter a fashion contest. Then they see the TDN: You were so instrumental in bringing WKHEUHHGVSHFLƬFGLYLVLRQVEDFNWRWKH Devon Horse Show, which were dwindling in popularity. What can the racing community take away from this to help bring fans back to the track?
