Alvarado Street Brewery raised nearly $2,000 for Hurricane Har vey victims in September through charitable events held at the brand's Monterey and Salinas locations. The brewery sold 1,960 beers during the one-day fundraiser, and donated $1 from each pint sold to hurricane relief effor ts. Jenna Fischer, Judy Greer and Jaleel White are among the cast members slated to appear in "The 15:17 to Paris," a Clint Eastwood-direct- ed film that chronicles how three California men thwar ted a 2015 terror attack on a French train. The three Sacramento-area men who prevented the attack also appear on the cast list. The trio co-wrote a 2016 memoir about the incident. D anny Sullivan, 1985 Indianapolis 500 winner, joining auto entrepreneur and racing executive Roger Penske and Quail Lodge Director of Motorsports Gordon McCall for the annual Fireside Chat series at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. Two-time IndyCar champion Gil de Ferran also spoke on a panel during the August event…Joe Elliott, lead singer of the rock band Def Leppard, admiring a statue of Motorhead vocalist Lemmy Kilmister at the Steven Whyte Sculpture Studio and Gallery…Former Men at Work frontman Colin Hay, who released the album "Fierce Mercy" in 2017, playing at Monterey's Golden State Theatre in July. Grammy-winning singer- songwriter Boz Scaggs, 1990s band Toad the Wet Sprocket, comedian Rodney Carrington and former Tonight Show host Jay Leno also performed at the Monterey venue in recent months… "Shaun of the Dead" and "The World's End" director Edgar Wright, Academy of Country Music Awardee and cookbook author Trisha Yearwood, Dario Franchitti, a four-time IndyCar Series champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner, and Walmart founder Sam Walton visiting Bernardus Lodge & Spa over the summer. Scottish Formula One veteran Sir Jackie Stewart and musicians Alex and Eddie Van Halen were also spotted at the Carmel Valley property… Members of the group Kansas, who topped charts with songs like "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Dust in the Wind," and composer and pop singer Neil Sedaka were among recent stars swinging by the Sunset Center in Carmel…Jazz violinist Regina Carter and Academy Award, Golden Globe and Grammy-winning actor and musician Common taking center stage at this year's Monterey Jazz Festival in September. Pianist Herbie Hancock also performed, and was the festival's 2017 Jazz Legend Award Honoree.
