Home technology is going even deeper now, getting closer to e Jetsons cartoon that so many of us remember. Here's a look at some of the newest ideas in home technology. 1. Dinner is a bit easier. Smart ovens can now be controlled by your smartphone so you can adjust the temperature, no matter where you are. 2. ere are smart ranges too. Induction cooktops heat only the food in your pans, using less energy, cooking faster and more evenly, and preventing skin burns. 3. You don't have to guess what's in your smart fridge. Many have a Wi-Fi LCD screen that interacts with your smartphone app. You can keep inventory of perishable food and make your shopping list based on what you have le . Smart refrigerators can also come with the ability to sense temperature fl uctuations and adjust to keep food at optimal temperature. 4. Smart faucets and shower heads preheat or cool water to your specifi cations before the faucet turns on, saving signifi cant amounts of water that is usually wasted while you're adjusting the temperature. ey can save 15,000 gallons per unit per year. It's a relatively inexpensive way to conserve water. 5. Speaking of water, you can now get smart watering systems for your lawn. Skydrop checks local weather stations hourly for forecasts for your yard and won't water when it's raining. It works with your existing sprinkler system and hundreds of devices. Scotts Gro Water Sensor measures soil moisture levels and sends an alert to your phone when it's time to water. 6. For those places you want to keep dry, water leak and mold sensors can save you a lot of money in the long run. By installing a detector at those areas where you're most likely to see a problem (by the toilet, beneath a sink, down in the basement), you'll be alerted instantly when moisture occurs, giving you the time to shut the water off before the problem gets worse. 7. Hidden televisions are a big trend right now. Pop-out ceiling li s where the TV can be lowered down out of a pocket in the ceiling is one popular option. TVs that show a static picture (like a painting) when not showing television programming is another. 8. is one isn't installed in your home. But it's so cool, we had to include it. e Eco Cleaner uses ultrasonic waves to clean dishes. It ionizes the food particles on the dishes, converting the food to compost for plants. It's like a small, portable dishwasher that is the ultimate recycler. 9. We've all heard of Amazon Alexa, the hands-free speaker you control with your voice to play music, make calls, and answer all your questions. But Amazon has stepped up its smaller version called Echo to the Echo Look. It has a video camera. You can take a picture and the device helps you pick out an outfi t from your closet. It's not exactly e Jetsons dressing machine, but it will save you a lot of time in the morning. With Wi-Fi, technology is easier and less expensive than ever to install. ere are also fewer repercussions when changing out equipment: no wires to run or holes in walls. While some of this new technology is seen as attractive for cosmetic reasons, it also makes our lives a whole lot easier. HHIMLS agents are up-to-date on all the latest trends in technology and can help you fi nd a home with the gadgets you're looking for. Just go to hiltonheadmls.com.
