NACHO BIZNESS RAISES BAR ON BALLPARK FAVORITE One of the highest Yelp-rated restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula offers one menu item. And it's served in a paper boat. Yes, we're talking nachos, but not that familiar ballpark fare (although visually there is a resem- blance). Nacho Bizness in New Monterey is slightly bigger than a broom closet, has one table and a kitchen with no stove. Yet the nachos are so gooey and tasty that a nightly line (Thursday- Saturday) snakes out the door onto the sidewalk. "The spot is small but it's dope," writes one Yelper. "Bomb! Just what you need after a couple beers," writes another. Finally, this about the cheese sauce: "There's some dark magic going on." No magic, just wild creativity from co-owners Steb Montez and Brittani Bristol. Boasting a sign that reads "open hella late," Nacho Bizness cor- ners the market on post-bar-crawl guilt bingeing. Past Saturday night specials include: Filipino nachos with pork adobo; smoked brisket nachos with Fieldwork Coffeetown cheese; Hawaiian plate lunch nachos; and Korean pork belly nachos with kimchi salsa and Sriracha crema. Look for the Lighthouse Avenue "bizness" on the next season of HBO's "Big Little Lies." The writers and film crew spent so many nights brain- storming over nachos that they wrote the place into the script. "They said the only reason they chose us is because they could eat free nachos," Montez says. Nacho Bizness is located at 615 Lighthouse Ave. in Monterey. LAST BITES Beach f ire bans got you down?
