BMW of Monterey Updates Seaside Dealer ship B Y M I C H A E L C H AT F I E L D B MW automobiles have long been known as "The Ultimate Driving Machine." Now, with a $6 million remodel underway, BMW of Monterey is intent on becoming "The Ultimate Dealership Experience." Originally built decades ago as part of the original Seaside Auto Center and remodeled in the 1990s, the facility was showing its age. "The building was dated," says General Manager Paul Giovino. "Cost-wise, it was more efficient to knock it down and start over." The former showroom had space for only three vehicles; the new one will accommodate 10. Creature comforts include a complimentary coffee bar and a large-screen computer system in an "ordering lounge" that allows customers to see what their new, built-to-order BMW will look like in real time. A reimagined service cen- ter features an eight-car, enclosed climate-con- trolled welcoming area to greet customers. "Because of the quality of the BMW vehicles we sell and service, we want coming to BMW of Monterey to be a quality experience on the same—or higher—level," Giovino says. The new dealership is slated to be open in November and a grand opening celebration is planned for January 2019. BMW of Monterey is located at 1 Geary Plaza in the Seaside Auto Center.
