What's your best holiday memory? Is it easy to rattle it off in a few
seconds, or does it take you longer to ponder that question?
Meet a few people who happily shared their special holiday
memories. Perhaps their stories will remind you of a memory you
would like to share. If so, just send it to us at aspire@redfcu.org

•e Christmas of 2012 was particularly special. It was during
this Christmas that I proposed to Marilyn, my lovely girlfriend
at the time. Marilyn's family customarily gathers at her
grandparents' house on Christmas Eve. •is year, after working
a half-day at Redstone, I drove to Muscle Shoals, AL, where
Marilyn was with her family.
I pulled her dad aside and stated my intention to propose to
his daughter. He gave me his blessings. •en, I returned to the
living room and quietly asked Marilyn if she wanted to step
outside for a little fresh air. Once out in the yard, I sang her an
original song. •en I knelt on one knee and proposed, placing the
engagement ring on her finger. She was as happy to accept as I was
to propose. Hence, the remainder of the evening became not only
a Christmas Eve celebration, but also an engagement party.

I've had many great Christmases, but none beats the
Christmas of 2015. •at was the year that our daughter,
Sloane, was born. She wasn't planned, still a happy
surprise to my husband and me.
And even though Sloane had no idea about Christmas,
it was special to me because it meant an entirely new
Christmas celebration. Now every year will be different
and exciting because we get to spend it with her. It's no
longer just me, my husband and our dog, Grace. •at
made 2015 the best holiday for me.
