Cadran, it's worth noting that Paris's an-
nual 'Nuit Blanche' is staged to coincide
with Arc weekend. Throughout the night
on Saturday, a range of free art exhibi-
tions, concerts, and dance performances
takes place across the city, with a number
of restaurants also staying open.
It's tempting to try to do both, but Arc
day in itself is enough to make the trip to
Paris worthwhile. Of the eight races on
the card, six have Group 1 status, starting
with the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac. The
Thoroughbred races are joined by the G1
Qatar Arabian World Cup as the fourth on
the card, directly ahead of the €5 million
Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
If you really must rush for your plane or
train, the final race of the card is a handi-
cap, allowing for an early exit. But it's far
better to stay on for an extra day or two,
allowing you to wait awhile at the races on
Sunday for one last glass of champagne as
the taxi queue subsides and you eventual-
ly make your way back to the city for a late
supper at La Coupole or Le Grand Colbert.
Paris is, after all, the city of love. Where
better then to indulge a great romance of
the Turf with a few little accoutrements?
